OURAY – The Ouray County Historical Society’s annual gala “Vignettes of History 2010” is set for Aug. 28 at Ouray’s historic Wright Opera House. Tickets are now on sale.

Two different ticket packages are available. One includes hors d’oeuvres at Venue Roscoe Fox followed by dinner at the Beaumont Hotel’s Tundra Restaurant and the performance “Velvet Secrets” by the Legendary Ladies. Performance-only tickets also are available. Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the Ouray County Historical Society.

“Velvet Secrets” tells the story of life in a turn-of-the-20th-century Colorado brothel or “parlor house.” The “working girls” are portrayed by the Legendary Ladies, an educational nonprofit performance organization which performs throughout Colorado. The troupe focuses on unconventional women who made their mark on the west.

The historical evening begins at 4 p.m. with a reception, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, and cash bar at Venue Roscoe Fox, 539 Main St. The elegant dinner at the Tundra, just up the street from Roscoe Fox, begins at 5:15 p.m. Choices of entrée include prime rib, Beef Wellington, salmon or vegetarian. “Velvet Secrets” begins at the nearby Wright Opera House at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the entire event are $75 per person (including performance) or $25 for the performance only. To make a reservation, please contact OCHS 970/ 325-4576. Seating is limited.
