Services for Rick Steele to be held Saturday

MONTROSE – Funeral services for Rick Steele, KUBC’s popular morning DJ, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grace Community Church in Montrose. A potluck reception will follow, according to Crippin Funeral home.

Steele drowned in South Canal in Montrose, according to the Montrose County coroner. He was reported missing on July 2 when he didn’t report for his morning show, and co-workers found his truck and two dogs near the canal later that day. His body was recovered about 12 miles downstream near Uncompahgre Road about two weeks later.

Friends held a candlelight memorial service for Steele last week near where his truck was found.
