Using a Piston Bully 100 snocat to maintain a high quality, Mountain Village’s Recreation Department grooms the following Nordic trails daily to accommodate skiers, hikers and snowshoers: Boomerang (1.5k), Campbell Peak View (2.5k), Elk Crossing (1k), Goose Connector (0.5k), Double Eagle Loop (1k), Skunk Creek (4k), and Wilson Loop (2k).
We do allow dogs on these trails as long as they are accompanied by a responsible owner. In addition to that, to ensure skiers utilizing this recreation amenity continue to enjoy their experience, we ask that foot traffic stays to the sides of the trails, off the classic grooves.
For your convenience, there are multiple access points to Mountain Village’s Nordic trails. From the Village Center, you can access the trails from the Peaks Hotel or via The Peaks ski run from the top of the Chondola (see ski area map). Trails are also accessible from a free parking lot on Adams Ranch Road, 100 yards north of the intersection of Mountain Village Boulevard. For those in need of equipment, off-site classic and skate skis and snowshoe rentals are available in Mountain Village shops including BootDoctors and Telluride Sports in The Peaks Resort hotel. Also, don’t forget to pick up a Nordic Trail Map and Guide to assist in navigation.
And please join us, as a spectator or participant, this Saturday, Dec. 13 at noon for the Wilson Loop 1k Sprint. The first race of the Telluride Nordic Challenge Series is open to all ages and abilities. The course is located at the intersection of Mountain Village Boulevard and Adams Ranch Road, and is produced by the Telluride Nordic Association with grooming provided by Mountain Village on Telluride Ski and Golf Company property.
