The article “TEX Receives $17 Million Federal Runway Grant” points to the fact that a key benefit of the $65 million taxpayer paid-for runway improvements is that “the phase will finally upgrade the runway to a new D-III safety category, ultimately enabling it to accommodate larger aircraft than it can now, notably the Bombardier Q400 airplane, capable of carrying 76 passengers.”

As a point of information, on February 4, 2010, Republic Airways Holdings announced that it plans to rid the company of the Bombardier Q400s operated by its subsidiary, Frontier. Further, SAS grounded the Q400 a few years ago. Now what?
