Show Heralds Launch of Thunder Heart Haven’s ELLA Program

RIDGWAY – A show featuring paintings by Alice Billings opens at Cimarron Books Sunday, Feb. 7, 1-4 p.m., as well as marking the launch of Thunder Heart Haven’s Equine Life Lessons and Artwork program, ELLA, taught by Billings.

Living with equines has brought Billings full circle from teaching art in 1967 to children in New York City public schools to teaching young children once again, this time with an assist from horses.

Billings, who has a masters degree in elementary education, uses the horses for teaching unconditional love, compassion, connectedness to all life and the greatest lesson of all: being in the moment.

Come hang with the horses! You never know what hidden talents, emotions and new directions may emerge. Winter hours are daily, 3-5 p.m., and any time on the weekends. Hang out, paint, draw or play music. Riding is not necessary – “so much is gained from simply hanging out with these incredibly grounded equine beings,” she says.

For more information about ELLA, call Billings at 970/729-1848 or email her at horselady@ridgway.us.
