Thank you for covering the issues of Norwood rec center a couple of weekends ago. The overhead expenses mentioned for the first year – about $800,000 for a center of 30,000 square feet – was bringing home what we kept saying all along that would have been an overhead for an adventure center in Mountain Village. For some reason we were assured that true overhead would only be $200,000-plus.

I applaud the involvement of citizens of Norwood in this process, because the financial commitment will be for many years. Even our dear President Bush now finally agrees we are in uncertain times, and he could not be more correct in that aspect.

We in Mountain Village are very fortunate that the 20th century project has been tabled, and that in future we may have more of a chance to see how we can create something multipurpose, and sustainable in our town. We need to take time to create a community.

I am very much looking forward to participating in all sustainable efforts in our region, including non-toxic weed treatments that John Burger has started, and meeting our minds in feeling out what is right for us. And that takes taking time! When we build something we will need to live with it, and we will have to pay for it. Lift 7 area, changing tourist industry, changing demographics – we are learning about these.

So let's be prudent, and wise, and it will work out a whole lot better in long term.
