“Don’s experience with teaching a variety of subjects here and abroad combined with his grant writing skills and program management make him the perfect candidate,” said Benito Cardenas, One Telluride Director. “He’s been teaching in Colombia for the last two years, and we are glad to have him join our efforts to help integrate Telluride.”
Mitchell will be addressing the language-specific aspects of the One Telluride Plan, including managing the new English as a Second Language program, revamping the Telluride Translation Service, and reaching out to all the immigrant communities.
“I look forward to helping One Telluride and the community as a whole integrate through a variety of programs. We will be addressing needs the community has deemed critical to bringing people of all cultures together,” said Mitchell.
One Telluride strives to bridge the gap between the immigrant and receiving communities by implementing a comprehensive community-driven integration plan. It serves as a resource for the immigrant community regarding the areas of education, law enforcement, culture and community, business and employment, housing and transportation.
