TCAH Small Grants and Artists Fellowships Deadline Aug. 6: The Telluride Council for the Arts and Humanities announces applications for Small Grants and Artists Fellowships are now available. The Small Grants program funds artists and non-profit arts and humanities organizations up to $1,000 each. The Artist Fellowships fund individual visual artists up to $500 to undertake formal or informal education, or small individual projects that display artistic merit and originality. The program is designed to accommodate smaller projects that are not available for other non-profit funding within the county, truly accomplishing TCAH's grassroots mission of developing a flourishing cultural environment in the Telluride region. The Small Grants Program funds a wide diversity of projects, from book and music projects to parenting classes to educating festivarians on the benefits of composting. Ah Haa Auction Date Change to Friday, August 13, 6-11 p.m. This ever-exciting and always surprising event raises money for the Ah Haa School's educational programs, including its scholarship fund for children and adults. Sergeant Dan Pauley, currently the acting chief, praised Herrington's willingness to reopen the search in order to find the right candidate.
Pauley volunteered to serve as the interim chief but says he had declined to take on the Chief Marshal job himself.
An executive recruiter hired by the town has been spearheading the search.
The candidates in the last round of interviews, as reported by The Watch on July 13, were: James Connor, currently a deputy marshal and a former member of the Cape Coral, Fla., police department and Greece Police Department in Rochester, N.Y.; Richard Sanchez, a former Telluride Deputy Marshal, and retired police supervisor from the University of California system; Mark Mathies, the police chief for the City of Salida who formerly served as chief of the police department in Beloit, Kan.; and Stephen "Tim" Palmer, a sergeant with the Riverhead New York Police Department, in the Hamptons.
