Two Ouray Retailers Merge at One Location

OURAY – Bruce and Tamara Gulde announced the merger of their two retail businesses, Mountain Fever Shirts and Gifts and Rocky Mountain Treasures, in one Ouray location, at 644 Main Street.

Rocky Mountain Treasures and Gifts, established in 2003, has provided a line of gifts including many products made in Colorado and some made locally in Ouray, joins with Mountain Fever Shirts and Gifts, in business since 1989, in a new location on the southwest corner of Seventh Avenue and main street, and will sell T-shirts, clothing and gifts that focus on jeeping, off-roading, hunting, hiking, and other recreational activities.

The new store at 644 Main Street will carry a wide selection of gifts, including engraved crystal, aspen vases, barnwood framed photographs, knives, scented candles, jewelry, and much more.

“We would like our customers and visitors to Ouray to understand Rocky Mountain Treasures and Gifts did not close due to economic reasons,” Tamara Gulde said. “Rocky Mountain Treasures has always been a successful and profitable business with a reputation for friendly and personal customer service. Having bought Mountain Fever Shirts and Gifts in 2007,” she said, the couple “realized that managing two successful and high-traffic businesses can be quite a challenge.

“By merging the two stores into the larger location of Mountain Fever Shirts and Gifts, we feel we can be more focused and offer our customers even better service and selection.”

“Our experience with the website presence at Rocky Mountain Treasures and Gifts was that out-of-town customers who had visited our store and bought its unique gifts were also able to easily do so over the internet,” said Bruce Gulde. “We look forward to offering this service to our many out-of-town customers” for Mountain Fever Shirts and Gifts.”
