You won't want to miss this delightful children's theatrical musical production of 17 at the Sherbino Theater in Ridgway this weekend. Show times are Saturday, Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 17 at 1:30 p.m.

Ridgway teacher Shannon McCarthy Maros has been working with 30 children, ages 3-12, for the past six weeks preparing for the performance. Maros adapted the story for the play based on Disney's 1950's movie Babes in Toyland, starring Annette Funicello and Tommy Sands

The play has been a challenge, says Maros, as the story has so many different scenes and aspects to it. Many of the children have various parts, including storybook characters, gypsies, trees, elves, and more, with lots of costume changes.

The children have been involved in every aspect of the play, working on everything from character development, to selecting their own costumes, to choreographing dance steps. They even decorated the scenery.
