With more than $3,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, the competition to turn a block of snow into a work of art is stiff – as stiff as the cold fingers of the artists doing the sculpting. CoolSculpt returns to Mountain Village for its third year as part of the Town of Mountain Village's SnowFest activities over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, Jan. 11-15.

This year's event will feature five sculptures carved from 8-foot cubes of snow displayed throughout the Mountain Village Core. One team will be sculpting a gondola car in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the "G."

The event, organized by Andy Krueger of Mountain Video Productions LLC with title sponsor support from Mountain Village and presenting sponsor support from Telluride Council for the Arts and Humanities, is looking for motivated teams to participate in CoolSculpt 2007. Interested parties should visit www.coolsculpt.com for more information.

Teams will have from Friday, Jan. 12 to Monday, Jan. 15 to transform their cubes of snow into freestanding sculptures. Judging will begin on Jan. 15 at approximately 10 a.m. with an après ski awards presentation at approximately 3:30 p.m. that afternoon in the Mountain Village core.

An independent panel of judges will critique the sculptures on their originality, creativity and technical excellence. This prize money for the CoolSculpt competitors will be divided among all the teams with 1st prize being $1,000 and six transferable lift tickets.

Other events taking place during SnowFest in Mountain Village include fireworks, a torch light parade, the annual Heat Miser Party, snowmobile jumping events, avalanche dog demonstrations, and much more.
