The Telluride Town Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to extend the reach of the town's leash law to include the base of the gondola and the base of Lift 7.
Until now, dogs were required to be on a leash only on main street.
The ordinance will be considered on second reading on Oct. 31.
Climate talk in Aspen
Several members of the Telluride Town Council and Mayor John Pryor attended a climate change conference in Aspen, starting yesterday.
The information gathered will be shared with the community at a future event of the environmentally conscious program Telluride Unplugged.
Toys for Tickets
Town Clerk M.J. Schillaci told the Telluride Town Council on Tuesday that Toys for Tickets is being planned again for this year.
The project is slated to run from Nov. 13 to Dec. 18. During this time, people can pay parking tickets with new toys at Rebekah Hall. The toys are given to Angel Baskets who prepare holiday baskets for people in the region in need.
Schillaci said that about $1,100 was raised last year from the project.
Save Your Energy
The Telluride Ecology Commission is handing out energy-saving light bulbs at the Farmer's Market today.
The bulbs, which are 15 watts but put out 60 watts in light, are also available at Restore Our World. The gesture is part of commission's six-week Telluride Unplugged program, geared toward making Telluride educated and active about protecting the environment.
