The walls of the Telluride Middle/High School building are plastered with snapshots of the past – photographs of the many hundreds of students who have pounded the halls and populated the classrooms of Telluride schools through the years.

It's time to dust off those letter sweaters next week, because this year's July 4 celebration in Telluride marks the opportunity for those former students to return to their Telluride alma mater for two days of activities that mark the 2006 Telluride All-School Reunion

Alumni from all classes have been invited to celebrate Independence Day in Telluride with their old classmates. Starting Monday, July 3, many hundreds of THS alumni are expected to converge in Telluride for the reunion.

The THS Reunion Committee has partnered with the Telluride Historical Museum to offer special exhibits and events throughout the two-day reunion, including a special School Days exhibit at the museum. On Monday at 2 p.m. at the Michael D. Palm Theatre, former Telluride miners and their wives will talk about what life was like here before the ski resort was built. The forum is hosted by Idarado Legacy and the Telluride Museum.

During the day on Monday, THS alum James McCutcheon will be recording oral histories from alumni. Those oral histories will be compiled into an Oral History CD, which will be available for purchase.

Later in the evening, the Reunion Committee hosts a dinner and dancing to the Anders Brothers Band at the Telluride Conference Center in Mountain Village.

At the Fourth of July Parade down Telluride's main street on Tuesday, special seating at the east end of town will be available to reunion attendees. Then, at 2 p.m., all THS alumni are invited to gather on the bleachers in Town Park for a group photo to commemorate this historic occasion.

For more information on the reunion, or to volunteer to help with any of the events, contact Jenny Patterson at 728-3538.
