The University Centers of the San Miguel has broken new ground by designing and arranging accreditation for a course in community sustainability in conjunction with Beaming Bioneers. The course will be offered to participants in the free Sustainability Now! 2005 Ideas Festival, a Beaming Bioneers Conference, being held in Telluride October 13-16. Anyone needing either undergraduate or graduate elective credit can earn it by attending the festival under the supervision of instructor, Kris Holstrom, M.S., and completing assigned reading and projects over the following weeks.
This is the first such course offered in conjunction with a regional Beaming Bioneers Conference and is focused on deepening the learning experience and increasing the value for participants. This course sets the precedent for designing a series of creative accredited courses in conjunction with other Telluride festivals and conferences, which is one goal of the new University Centers non-profit program.
