A New Board Member; Performance Scores Continue to Climb

Telluride came home from the San Juan Basin League Knowledge Bowl held recently Dolores with honors.

Telluride Middle School Team I – Mia McLaughlin, Taylor Maykranz, Daniel Yohey, Amy Brelsford and Jessica Griffith (Statton Marquz and Max Bregman were unable to attend) ranked first overall for the second time this season. The Middle School Team II – A.J. Rekdahl, Colin Breuer, Taylor Smith and Max Walker-Silverman – came in third, the same position they claimed in the first Knowledge Bowl round Monday, Oct. 24, in Telluride.

Telluride High School Team I – Logan Brown, Chelsey Goldsworthy, Ashley Story, Skyler Bateman and Peter Samuelson – placed fourth.

The San Juan league is comprised of teams from Telluride, Norwood, Dove Creek, Dolores, Mancos and Nucla. There are, Middle School Knowledge Bowl Coach Lisa Andrews say, "about 12 teams in each division."

The high school team from Mancos took first place overall.

The next San Juan Basin League Knowledge Bowl will be held Monday, Dec. 5, in Norwood; this year, 18 Telluride students are participating in the scholastic games.

"Every year the community overwhelmingly supports us in putting together this event," says Alpine Chapel's Pastor Tree Cooper.
