DALLAS DIVIDE – Three occupants of a passenger van were transported to Montrose Memorial Hospital by Ouray County EMS on Tuesday morning after a single-vehicle rollover atop Dallas Divide.

A white Ford passenger van loaded with eight occupants heading west on Colorado Hwy. 62 lost control, skidded across the eastbound side and rolled over one time, landing on its wheels, at mile marker 12, just east of the Ouray/San Miguel county line around 7:30 a.m.

According to authorities on scene, one passenger had a compound fracture of a wrist, another had a laceration on the neck and a third was complaining of back pain.

It was unknown if any of the passengers were wearing seatbelts.

First on scene was Ouray County Sheriff Deputy Keith Saunders, who advised dispatch that addition emergency personnel were needed to assist already responding Ridgway Ambulance.

Ouray County Chief Medic Norm Rooker and Medic/Training Office Steve Lance also responded, as well as the Ouray Ambulance and Ridgway Marshal D.J. Scott.

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.

When emergency crews arrived, roads were ice-covered.

The accident was cleared at approximately 8:45 a.m.
