The Best of the West

A Three-Day Jazz Event at the Moss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall and Robinson Theatre Recital Hall in Grand Junction.

Thursday night features the Memphis Brass Quintet performing A Western Fanfare, with composer Eric Ewazen conducting.

A world premiere takes place on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Robinson Theatre when the Mesa State Wind Symphony and the Memphis Brass Quintet perform guest conductor Ewazen’s Grand Mesa. Ewazen, who has been on faculty at The Juilliard School since 1980, has seen his commissioned pieces presented all over the world including for performances throughout the U.S., Asia, Mexico, and Europe.

Best of the West Select Band plays Saturday, Dec. 1 at 3:30 p.m. in the Robinson Theatre (free admission). Otherwise admission for the Nov. 29 performance is $12 adults/$10 seniors/$5 students; Nov. 30: $8 adults/$5 seniors/$3 students. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. The Saturday performance is free and open to the public.
