According to Nels Cary, Broker/Owner of Peaks Real Estate Sotheby’s International Realty, “This was our fourth Sotheby’s conference since being awarded the internationally distinctive brand of Sotheby’s International Realty. Each time we come away amazed by the power of the worldwide network and the quality of companies we are affiliated with.”
The Fall Leadership Forum was held Oct.30-Nov. 2, at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, Calif. With Sotheby’s International Realty affiliates from 12 countries attending, the event also provided important client referral and networking opportunities to help Peaks Real Estate Sotheby’s International Realty to market their clients’ properties directly to luxury real estate brokers located around the world. In addition to Cary, participants from Peaks Real Estate Sotheby’s International Realty included Bill Fandel, Vice President and Managing Broker; Sally Puff Courtney, Vice President; and Peggy Raible, Sr. Vice President.
By attending the event, Peaks Real Estate Sotheby’s International Realty heard from some of the world’s leading experts in luxury living, including Lincoln Jackson, who serves as vice president for Group Publisher, which publishes Robb Report Vacation Homes, Robb Report Luxury Homes, and Robb Report Sport & Luxury Automobiles. Jackson spoke to the importance of understanding today’s affluent consumer, and the strong reputation earned by Sotheby’s International Realty brokers to serve these clients’ needs.
Another keynote speaker included Allan Dalton, president of Realtor.com, which is one of the most visited sites on the internet. Dalton addressed the Leadership Forum to stress the importance of seizing online technology in marketing properties and attracting prospective buyers.
Nels Cary noted that in addition to the www.peaksrealestate.com site that is maintained by the firm, all of the firm’s listings are marketed on www.sothebysrealty.com, one of the world’s leading sites for people looking to buy and sell distinctive homes. The site was specifically designed to allow users to search for homes around the world based upon their specific amenities and lifestyle choices.
Michael R. Good, president and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates, Inc., served as the Leadership Forum’s master of ceremonies. Zabel Moves to Hermitage Land Co.
Longtime Telluride resident Paul Zabel, a former partner in Alpine Lodging & Real Estate, announced this week he is joining Hermitage Land Company as a real estate broker. Hermitage Land Company was established by Pete Johnson in 1988, and specializes in Telluride area land and properties.
Zabel became a partner in Alpine Lodging in 1996, and was instrumental in growing that business through the acquisition of multimedia properties, including telluride.com, as well as the establishment of the company’s real estate division. He sold his interests to his partner in December 2005, and had remained active as a broker with Alpine Lodging & Real Estate.
“I am excited to be joining forces with Pete Johnson and Hermitage Land Company, because I’ll really be able to focus my efforts, and work on the types of projects that I find exciting and rewarding,” said Zabel. “Pete and I share a similar philosophy; we’re rooted in this area, we both have a passion for the outdoors, and we enjoy working with people who share a genuine connection with the region.”
“Paul brings great synergy to the Hermitage Land Company,” said Johnson. “He’s well respected by his clients and the community for his work ethic and ideas, and he remains committed to the ideals that brought him to Telluride in the first place. I think we’ll be able to complement each other’s efforts well, which will inevitably benefit our clients.”
During his 15 years in the Telluride region, Zabel has managed over 50 buildings in town, and brokered numerous properties in town, Telluride Mountain Village, and the outlying region. He has personally owned town properties, as well as several mesa properties in the region.
“It’s important to not only know the market, but be a part of the market, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to apply a breadth of experience to the benefit of Hermitage Land Company and its clients,” added Zabel.
