Friday afternoon at the high school, the new Mavericks cheerleading team led the chants. This year’s cheerleaders for the Mavs include Madison Alexander, Chelsea Montgomery, Traci Crownover, Amber Kennedy, Natalie Peterson and Ashley Fritz. They are being coached by Terry Snow, LeAnn Calhoun and Heather Priestly. Not to be outdone (since the cheerleaders in Norwood are clearly being developed at an early age), the Norwood Mini Mavs Cheerleaders, consisting of girls from second thru fifth grade, were busy fundraisers on Saturday at the log cabin near the library, with a candle and bake sale. While the high school Mavericks cheerleaders will now be a part of the sideline for the remainder of the season, the Mini Mavs will offer their enthusiasm to support the team for home games.
