RIDGWAY, Sept. 18, 7:13 a.m. – The day started out well for the Ridgway High School girls’ volleyball team, but in the end, visiting 1A Mountain League-foe Crested Butte rallied to down the host Demons on Saturday afternoon at the Ridgway Elementary School.
The Demons took care of Crested Butte 25-18 in the first game, but the Titans – who beat Ouray 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 25-15 in a match on the Trojans’ home floor earlier in the day – rallied to win the match by winning the next three games, 25-18, 25-19, 25-18.
“We have had some tough matches that were very fun to watch,” said Ridgway first-year coach Jill Norwood. “Between the long volleys and the team effort that the girls gave, the matches have proved to be exciting.”
The loss drops the Demons to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in league play. They also lost to Durango C, 25-12, 23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-7 on Thursday, Sept. 13.
Ridgway is now off until Saturday when they play host to league-rival Ouray, a team that’s also winless on the season (0-3, 0-2).
“We are looking forward to the rest of the season,”
The Demons are more than capable of winning, as at a pre-season tournament at
