EARLY MORNING FIRE - Ouray and Ridgway volunteer firefighters were called to a structure fire at the abandoned Bay City Mill three miles north of Ouray on US Hwy. 550 just before 6 a.m. on a rainy Saturday morning, Oct. 6. The building was fully engulfed when Ouray crews arrived and it had totally collapsed by the time Ridgway’s department was called on scene around 6:15 a.m. The cause of the fire has not been determined. The glow of the blaze was visible from Ridgway, seven miles away. (Photo by Jeff Hunt)
