Editor:

Paul and I have known the Wolford family for 17 years when we moved to Ridgway next to Judy and Bob Wolford and across from Faye and Dave Wolford, Bob’s parents.

The Wolford family is a Centennial Ranching family, having ranched their land for over 100 years. Paul and I got to know Faye and Dave and decided cattle ranching had to be the hardest job possible. We watched Faye, Dave and Bob get up early to tend their cows with Faye driving their flatbed truck while Bob and Dave pitched 100-lb. bales of hay. Dave was in his early 70s at that time!

We learned, too, that both Faye and Dave had to work off their ranch in order to make ends meet for their family of five. Faye worked at the Ridgway Post Office while Dave worked as the head of Ouray County’s Road and Bridge Department.

Bob, as Faye and Dave’s son, learned much about family, tradition and hard work from his parents. He is a kind, honest and decent man. He works hard to support his family of seven with his wife, Judy, alongside him.

Bob and Judy have raised five kids with the last two off at college. They currently are owners of Truss Co. in Montrose and work steadily to keep their business growing and profitable.

Paul and I support Bob Wolford as candidate for Ouray County Commissioner based on his knowledge of this area, his concern for all citizens in Ouray County, his hard work ethic, and his ability to see both sides of an issue. Bob has deep ties to this county and is the best person to protect it.

Laura and Paul Ricks, Ouray
