Online Hunter Education Course Offered

DURANGO – A special Internet course through which prospective hunters can obtain their Hunter Education Card is being offered by the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Anyone can take the course, but participants are required to attend two-sessions in person in Durango.

By taking the course now, people will have a chance to hunt big game this fall. Anyone born after 1948 must earn a Hunter Education Card in order to buy a Colorado hunting license. The online course is offered as a convenience to those who have been unable to take a regular hunter education class. However, the online course is not a shortcut. Prospective hunters should expect to spend about 12 hours studying the material. The final sections of the course, to be taken in person in Durango, include a written exam on Aug. 7 and a live-fire test with guns on Aug. 8. Both of those tests must be passed to obtain the card.
