'The Adventures of Lewis and Clark'

OURAY – Participants in Weehawken Creative Arts' Stars and Stripes musical theatre and dance camp are performing The Adventures of Lewis and Clark this Sunday, July 26 at Wright Opera House in Ouray. Under the direction of Natasha Payette and Alyssa Preston, this year's original patriotic production will take audience members on a fascinating and highly entertaining musical journey of discovery about the travels of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark.

In 1804, the United States, under the leadership of President Thomas Jefferson, commissioned Lewis and Clark to travel, explore and chart the new territories of the Louisiana Purchase. These brave men, and their companions, York, Charbonneau, Sacajawea, along with their trusty dog, Scannon, traveled up the Missouri River, over the Rocky Mountains and down the Columbia River – all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Their remarkable story comes to life in this clever (approximately one-hour) musical adaptation by Roger Emerson and John Jacobson, with original songs and a delightfully entertaining script.

Twenty five young actors have been working with Preston and Pyeatte since July 20, to assemble the production. Cast members include Hunter Clapsadl, Katarina Cook, Sadie Dunham, Flannery Martin, Caleb Preston, John Paul Preston, Judah Preston, Kendall Mueller, McKinley Mueller, Jordan Leo, Catlin Collins, Taylor Hartlein, Nisha Harding Sprowls, Wiley Borof, Stazi Snelling, Abigail Link, Megan Kienapfel, Rae Sustana, Shelby Sisler, Shane Sisler, Amanda Jennings, Cassidy Bolane, Amelia Roxby, Anastasia Roxby and Georgia Beutler.

The general public is welcome and encouraged to attend Sunday's performance, which takes place at 1 p.m. Doors will open for seating at 12:30 p.m.; tickets are $5.
