Weehawken Creative Arts is offering a class with renowned instructor Steve Traudt in Ouray this Saturday, June 20. The class, titled, "Using Your Digital SLR Camera" is a series of informative presentations to give participants the tools to help them bring their photography to the next level. Traudt’s trademark energy and enthusiasm will help students rediscover the joy of photography
"Photographing lets me see and feel a part of the environment, whether a soaring mountain or a tiny wildflower," says Traudt. "This seeing leads to more awareness, which in turn enhances the seeing yet more. The whole process is addictive."
Traudt teaches photography at 13 Photography Gallery and Western Colorado Community College. Along with conducting photography workshops and seminars, he is a certified scuba diver, a writer and a pharmacist. He has exhibited his photographs extensively around the world and he lectures locally and nationally. He especially enjoys sharing his enthusiasm through teaching.
Traudt calls his photographs Synergistic Visions. He explains synergism as the cooperative interaction of several elements to yield a superior result. For Traudt, photography represents synergism between the brain, emotions, vision, film, lenses and the camera. Since photography is both art and craft, Traudt views this synergism as a marriage of left-brain and right-brain activities.
"In today's world, we're in such a hurry; never looking up or down, only straight ahead. I make photographs which cause the viewer to pause, even for a moment, and realize all the remarkable events in our world awaiting discovery."
In Saturday’s class, Traudt will teach about composition, depth of field, shutter speed, histograms, RAW, flash and more. The class is the same he presents at national seminars for users of digital SLR cameras of all levels of experience.
Using Your Digital SLR Camera takes place from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Students should bring their camera, its instruction manual and a charged battery.
