RIDGWAY – The Ridgway River Festival, a free community celebration of the Uncompahgre watershed featuring music, thrilling boat races, a Whitewater Rodeo, delicious food and tasty beverages also provides something for the youngest river lovers. The Mosaic Community Project host the second annual Kid’s Eddy at the Ridgway River Festival on June 27 in Rollans Park.

This year’s Kids Eddy activities will include free crafts, yummy solar snacks and face-painting. All children will enjoy making compost seed balls, leaf rubbings and hemp necklaces at a craft station. There will also be an exhibit station where, using the famed nature artist Andy Goldsworthy for inspiration, kids can collaborate on a photo-worthy, nature-inspired art project.

Rounding out the Kid’s Eddy will be water tables, three exciting duck races and delicious lemonade from Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a foundation that evolved from a young cancer patient’s front-yard lemonade stand into a nationwide fundraising movement to find a cure for childhood cancer.

All kids and kids at heart are welcome to visit the Kid’s Eddy between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on the west side of the Uncompahgre River. Parents are asked to attend with their children, as childcare will not be provided. If you are interested in helping out with face painting, please contact Jessica at 626-5657.
