TELLURIDE – The world premiere of Philip Glass’s Sonata for Violin and Piano (2008) will be broadcast on American Public Media’s Performance Today on Friday, May 29. The sonata was written for violinist Maria Bachmann and pianist Jon Klibonoff.

This live recording from the recent world premiere performance is a sneak preview of Telluride MusicFest as this work will be played at the festival and introduced by Glass and Bachmann.

Performance Today host Fred Child interviewed Bachmann about the work, and the three-movement Glass sonata (approximately 23 minutes) will be aired in its entirety. To listen online or to find out where and when Performance Today is broadcast in your area, visit: www.performancetoday.org.

The show is available online for seven days after broadcast on May 29, and there will be additional portions of the interview online.

Performance Today is broadcast on 250 public radio stations across the country and is heard by 1.4 million people.

Individual tickets to this year’s Telluride MusicFest, June 24-July 5, are available at tellurideticket.com.
