CORNERSTONE – In an effort to introduce the private 7,945-yard Greg Norman-designed golf course and its resort community homesteads to those who have not had the opportunity to experience Cornerstone, the resort will be opened to the public with a “Stay and Play” package for a limited time.

Spanning over 6,000 acres atop the Uncompahgre Plateau, Cornerstone is resort community where families can enjoy vacations in their own homes, nestled in spectacular scenery of the San Jan Mountains. There are over 3,000 acres of open space at Cornerstone, and 412 proposed homesteads, ranging in size from one-fourth acre to over 100 acres, and varying from privacy-inducing aspen groves to open highlands from the center of the resort’s village to its parameter ranches.

And there is the magnificent 18-hole Cornerstone Golf Course that was named the Number One Best New Private Golf Course by Golf Magazine earlier this year. With the course scheduled to open for the season on June 1, don’t miss the opportunity to experience what Cornerstone has to offer during this limited time “Stay and Play” package – you just might decide to stay at Cornerstone, permanently.

“This is an effort to bring greater exposure to Cornerstone to the people who have always thought it was so exclusive,” Brad Willett, Cornerstone’s director of sales and marketing, said in an interview last week. Package prices have not yet been determined, he said, and are based on availability. “We have golf-foursome cabins that we have developed that guests will stay in. This is an opportunity to not only get a look at the real estate here, but to get people entrenched in Cornerstone for a couple days to feel what we are all about.”

If non-golfers are interested, a guided trail ride, hike or fly-fishing (at Centennial Ranch or at Cornerstone’s lakes by the Clubhouse) can be substituted for a round of golf.

With all the amenities that Cornerstone has to offer, Willett said the “Stay and Play” package is the best way to reach everyone from those who may have an interest in Cornerstone to those who know nothing about it.

“It is hard to send somebody a marketing brochure to get them interested in all that we provide,” he said. “The best way is to get theme to experience our pioneer hospitality. The golf course is great, and it put us on the map but there is fun for everybody in the family. We appeal to everybody from horseback lovers to fly-fishers to those who love the idea of getting lost in the woods on a walk. We are a lot more than just a golf course.”
