OURAY, Oct. 30, 8:16 a.m. – The Woman’s Club of Ouray, first organized in 1897, has met continuously for 110 years and thrives today with 60 members. The ladies meet on the third Tuesday of each month in the Community Center for informative programs and socializing.

The motto of the club is “investigate, improve and impact.” Following this motto through community service and philanthropy, the members of the Woman’s Club help worthy, nonprofit organizations with donations for their community projects.

Each summer, the club hosts a huge rummage sale of donated items to raise funds for these donations. Due to the success of this year’s fundraiser the club was able to grant $110 or more to 16 organizations, which included The Chief Ouray Recognition Project, Light up Ouray Campaign, Neighbor to Neighbor, Ouray Mountain Rescue, Ouray Trail Group, Ouray Community Center, Ridgway Community Pride, and Second Chance Humane Society.

To qualify for donations from the Woman’s Club of Ouray, nonprofit organizations need to submit a letter including the amount of the request and its purpose. The submittal must be received before Oct. 1 of each year.
