TELLURIDE – The Just for Kids Foundation is now accepting applications for the Man of La Mancha Scholarship Program. To honor the foundation's late founder, Bill Carstens, the scholarship is designed to financially support and empower visionary students.
Since the inception of the Man of La Mancha Scholarship Program in 2006, JFK has awarded over $118,000 to local students in pursuit of higher education. Graduating seniors who attend high school within the San Miguel River Watershed, including the towns of Telluride, Norwood, Nucla, Naturita and Paradox, are invited to apply online on the foundation's website, justforkidsfoundation.org. The application deadline is March 28, 2014.
JFK serves children from birth through high school graduation and is committed to providing seed funds for start-up projects, operating grants, program support, capital needs, and equipment. The foundation particularly targets projects with leadership opportunities for children and projects promoting self-sufficiency and responsibility.
Each fall, JFK awards grants to deserving individuals, organizations and programs that support and empower the youth of the San Miguel River Watershed. JFK distributed $180,455 in grant awards in November of 2013 and has awarded over $1.4M since the foundation's founding.
JFK's annual fundraiser, the Mountains to the Desert Bike Ride will take place on September 20, 2014. To learn more about the foundation, the bike ride or to donate, please visit justforkidsfoundation.org.
