OURAY COUNTY – Ouray County Treasurer Jeannine Casolari has announced that she is seeking reelection in November. If she succeeds, it will be her third term in office.

Casolari has worked in the Ouray County Treasurer’s office for 16 years, including eight years as chief deputy treasurer, prior to her election to office in 2006.

In her role as treasurer, Casolari receives property tax revenues and distributes these monies to the various districts throughout the county – schools, libraries, fire districts, water districts, and more. As public trustee, she processes release deeds of trust and foreclosures.

Casolari also serves as secretary of the Western Division of Colorado County Treasurers and Public Trustees; over the last seven years, she has served as president and vice president of this organization, and has hosted the group’s annual meeting in Ouray County, which brought in county treasurers and public trustees from all over the state for training and sharing information.

Casolari and her staff of two, including a chief deputy and a deputy treasurer, have consistently won praise in the annual county audit, and added that her office has a “great working relationship” with the County Finance Department, and with other county officials and department heads.

When Casolari was registrar, she said, she and her staff earned the state’s Precision Award over four years for 100 percent accuracy.

Recently, Casolari has designed and implemented procedural changes in her office including new internal audits and cash balancing procedures, with the goal of creating efficiencies and streamlining work flow. Later this year, she plans to upgrade to a new county treasurer computer program.

In the past, Casolari has done volunteer work with the American Red Cross.

“I look forward to continue serving as Ouray County Treasurer and Public Trustee, and I sincerely appreciate everyone’s support,” she said.
