Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Placed on Leave Amid Child Abuse Allegations

MONTROSE – Montrose County Sheriff Rick Dunlap placed a sergeant on administrative leave without pay on Tuesday, Dec. 17, due to allegations of child abuse.  

The Montrose Police Department and the Mesa County Health and Human Services are investigating the matter.  

According to a Montrose County, no arrests have been made and charges have not been filed. It is the policy of the Montrose County Sheriff's Office that any employee who is the subject of a criminal investigation is placed on administrative leave without pay pending completion of the investigation. 

The Montrose County Sheriff's Office is also conducting an internal investigation into this matter.
