MONTROSE — In races to fill two contested seats on the Montrose County School Board it was incumbent Mark Bray defeating challenger Jessica Crane in District E and Gayle Johnson defeating Katie Smits and Jenni Sopsic to take District C.
Bray won 55 percent of the vote over Crane's 45 percent to retain his seat and Johnson received 39.17 to Sopsic's 23.69 and Smits's 37.14 percent.
District A representative Stu Tolen and Leann Tobin of District G ran unopposed to retain their seats.
Amendment 66 failed in Montrose County by a 80 percent and failed statewide by a landslide. Proposition AA, the sales and excise tax on marijuana sales to help with school construction passed in Montrose County with about 60 percent of the vote and also passed statewide with about 1.1 million votes tallied.
