My name is Willa Johnson and I am an active member of the new student group called Students in Support of a Place to Play. We, the students, have seen the negative impacts of not having a gym and music room at the new school. These include cutting into class time, shortened sport practice times, an increased transportation budget (gas and bus driver), and numerous other negative impacts.
In speaking with the administration, we have recognized the unique opportunity to fund the new gym and music room at a minimum cost to the community. If the bond issue is passed, one-third of the funding will be paid for by our fundraising and by a state grant. Also, because of increased property values, taxpayers can vote to fund this project while paying less in taxes in 2009 than they paid in 2008. This effort is worthy of voter approval.
Questions can be answered at the informational meeting on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Secondary School or by any of the following members of the Students in Support of a Place to Play: Halli Benasutti, Louisa Clark, Jake Coulter, Lauren Hagemeyer, Cory Hibbard, Willa Johnson, Caleb Lewis, Kacie Kyne, Travis Weaver, and Sam Willits.
