Male human flesh is a delicacy on her home planet. Under directives from her corporate superiors, an alien slowly cruises the highways of Scotland, searching for loners fit to harvest. The alien is Scarlet Johansson, and the director is Jonathan Glazer, a legend in the world of music videos (Radiohead, Nick Cave and Massive Attack) and commercials (Nike, Levis, Sony and an unforgettable surfing spot for Guinness). Glazer’s first two feature films (Sexy Beast, 2000, with an Oscar-nominated Ben Kingsley; Birth, 2004, with Nicole Kidman) drew comparisons to Stanley Kubrick, and cinephiles have been eagerly awaiting his third. Glazer adapted the screenplay from the cult novel by Michael Faber, relying more on rich, atmospheric visuals (the film was shot by longtime collaborator Daniel Landin) than dialogue to tell a surprising story of loneliness and desire.

UNDER THE SKIN | U.K., 2013, 107m | Director: Jonathan Glazer | Starring: Scarlett Johansson
