TELLURIDE – The Telluride Council for the Arts and Humanities awarded $10,000 for local arts and humanities projects, starting its 2009 Small Grant and Artist Fellowship Award program. Given out twice a year, the grants program helps working county artists and arts or humanities organizations fund their projects, continue their education or fund performances.

This round’s Small Grant recipients include The Telluride Academy’s Mudd Butts Theatre, to offer scholarships for their summer program; Amy Levek, to create a short film titled Food for Thought about sustainable farming at Norwood's Indian Ridge Farm; Julie Siegel, for creation of a mural at the Norwood Prime Time Early Childhood Learning Center; SquidShow Theatre, for The Play’s the Thing – a series of staged readings of great plays; Anton Viditz Ward, to create a spinning fire “Sphere to Enlightenment” for Burning Man 2009 and for San Miguel County; Pamela Hancock, to help fund a free children's arts-in-nature program for at risk children in Telluride, with One to One and the Historical Museum; Tom White, to help produce a piano concert at Telluride's Palm Theatre this summer.

Thanks to the generosity of the Telluride Commission for Community Assistance, Arts and Special Events, the Telluride Foundation, and local grants from the Mountain Village Owner’s Association and San Miguel County, TCAH is able to fund Telluride, Mountain Village and San Miguel County working artists through this program.

Small and Homegrown Grant applicants are eligible for awards up to $2,000 (for project funding), and Artist Fellowship recipients are eligible for awards up to $500 (to continue artistic education). The next round’s applications are due the first week of September 2009, and are available online at www.telluridearts.org.
