MOUNTAIN VILLAGE - Mountain Village’s main thoroughfare – Mountain Village Boulevard – will be paved in its entirety this summer. The first stage of this two-week paving process will begin July 16 with milling, with the actual milling process occurring at various intersections on Mountain Village Boulevard. There will be traffic impacts up and down Mountain Village Boulevard Tuesday and Wednesday, and possibly Thursday.

Paving will begin July 22 at the entrance to town at Highway 145. The intent is to complete both inbound and outbound lanes in this section of the Boulevard in one day. Do expect 10-minute delays, and one lane of traffic. Benchmark Drive from the Rocky Road intersection to the Benchmark cul-de-sac, and Aspen Ridge Drive will be paved during this time frame. Telluride Health and Wellness Center Seeks Input on Second Round Survey

TELLURIDE – The Telluride Health & Wellness Initiative has announced the launch of the second session of questions on their crowd sourcing website, www.telluridehealthideas.org. Seeking public input regarding the Initiative, the second round of questions focuses in on health and healthcare services provided in the region and how Telluride locals go about accessing such services. This second session is currently active on the site and will be available for the next few weeks. A static survey with similar questions can also be accessed at http://conta.cc/18IxyZG

The site www.telluridehealthideas.org allows for input and interaction from and with the public on critical questions regarding health and wellness in Telluride. Everyone is encouraged to get involved by visiting the website and submitting feedback and their personal opinions regarding health and healthcare services provided locally and throughout the region.

The objective of the Telluride Health & Wellness Initiative is to determine the viability of expanding health and wellness services and building a new facility. The results of this Initiative will be based on public input, land and market analysis, and a sustainable business plan.

No Barriers Summit Features Blackboard

TELLURIDE – The Sensational BlackBoard is a new, innovative art tool, designed for the visually impaired, that allows users to create their own raised-line pictures and express their world creatively through touch. The exciting new art technique will be one of many clinics offered at the 2013 No Barriers Summit, a four-day arts and outdoor adventure festival for people with varying disabilities and abilities to be held August 8-11, 2013, in the beautiful southern Colorado mountain town of Telluride, known for its vibrant arts community. A community of artists and adaptive sports outfitters will lead the clinics, which will take place in 3-4 hour time slots.

"We are extremely thrilled to be bringing in an added focus on the arts at the No Barriers Summit,” says No Barriers Executive Director Dave Shurna. “Art is a part of how many people process life, and as we bring together people from all over the U.S. with significant life challenges, we are excited to be able to provide a space for intentional reflection as well as space to showcase some of our community’s leading artists."

The Sensational BlackBoard workshop will be led by Ann Cunningham, an artist and teacher at the Colorado Center for the Blind, and is open to anyone interested in exploring a new outlet for creativity. The workshop will take place Friday, August 9, 9 a.m. – noon and 1 – 4 p.m.

Summit participants also will have the opportunity to contribute their personal stories in artistic form to the No Barriers Disability Mural Project. The national Disability Mural Project began in March 2000 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and encourages people living with disabilities as well as those who have experienced disability through family or friends to creatively express that experience in multi-media on individual tiles. Telluride artist Daniel Kanow will lead five sessions for Summit participants to create and add their tiles to two multi-piece communal works of art. The completed murals will be installed in Telluride and nearby Mountain Village as a gift to the community.

Additional art clinics at the Summit include a photography workshop that focuses on capturing images of the world in a multi-sensory approach and a painting workshop for tactile, non-toxic finger painting, as well as traditional brush painting. A complete schedule of events can be found at http://nobarriersusa.org/summit/.

No Barriers USA is a nonprofit organization established with the mindset that authentic immersion experiences push individuals outside of their comfort zones, challenging them intellectually, emotionally or physically.
