I’m voting for Dan Chancellor for County Commissioner. Judging by voter registration numbers and election results in recent years, San Miguel County is one of the most politically progressive counties in Colorado. Given that, you might expect that when it comes to environmental issues, a majority of our County leaders could be counted on to be reliably pro-environment. Unfortunately, that’s not what the record shows, which is why we need a change.
Time and again, on issues ranging from the Valley Floor to climate change to the uranium mill, Dan Chancellor has shown himself to be an effective advocate for San Miguel County’s progressive values. Dan has the necessary commitment and tenacity to turn things around. With a long-overdue fresh perspective, we would be able to create a future including enacting a community-wide climate change plan yielding measurable results each year, adopting progressive environmental programs and policies [copied] from elsewhere in Colorado, and finally bringing some accountability to achievement of our environmental goals. I urge San Miguel County voters to look past appearances and labels – which can be misleading – and vote for a true progressive, environmentalist and public servant, Dan Chancellor, for County Commissioner.
