TELLURIDE – Telluride Ski Resort employees noticed several information and

trail signs had been stolen from the top of the ski area prior to the

Independence Day celebration, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office. The signs that are missing are SKI PATROL, EASIEST WAY DOWN, MILLIONS, ELECTRA, DYNAMO, SULLY'S, JOINT POINT, SEE FOREVER, PLUNGE, HAPPY THOUGHTS, BUZZ'S GLADE, and LOOKOUT.

The signs cost approximately $300 or more per sign to replace. Some of the signs were high enough to have required a ladder to reach. It is suspected that more than one person took part in the theft and the thieves most likely used a truck or SUV to access the ski area. The Telluride Ski Resort has offered a $500 reward, through the Crime Stoppers program, for information leading to the signs and those who took them. An investigation is ongoing.
