My name is Dan Chancellor.
For the past 29 years, many of you may have known me as the owner/operator of Porcupine Signs. Others have known me as a 20 year volunteer Placerville firefighter, a nine-year volunteer EMT on the Placerville ambulance or the former Scoutmaster of Telluride Troop 500.
As the Democratic candidate, running for San Miguel County Commissioner, third Precinct, I have the courage, commitment and compassion to face the difficult challenges that lie ahead for San Miguel County. The time has come to replace routine management with comprehensive, innovative, proactive solutions.
If elected to serve you, among other actions, I will work to
*Increase public awareness and engagement through the use of inexpensive technologies like live streaming and email, knowing that the real experts on the needs of our county are the people who live here.
* Improve accountability and follow-through in the management of projects and expenditures.
*Develop a purchase system more heavily weighted in favor of local merchants and contractors
*Promote ranching and help to keep ranching families on their properties
*Develop and accomplish a measurable plan to protect the environment and preserve resources, vital to our agricultural and tourist based economy
*Unite the diverse cultures and interests of our county
Most importantly, as your Commissioner, I will never forget that, as a public servant, I am earning my pay only when I am working hard to protect and advance the best interests of San Miguel County.
