TELLURIDE – Cycling fans around the country will be able to watch more of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Colorado this August with the announcement this week of extended TV coverage by NBC and NBC Sports Network.

Added to the coverage for this, the event’s second year, will be four hours of live broadcast on the parent network (NBC) Aug. 25 and 26, the final two days of the seven-day stage race. The last stage is the Individual Time Trial through the streets of downtown Denver.

NBC Sports Network will air live (or taped delay) coverage of each stage, beginning with the opening stage from Durango to Telluride, Aug. 20, at 4 p.m. Eastern each day.

In addition, Universal Sports will repeat NBC’s coverage of Stages 6 and 7 on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 27-28, at 6 p.m. ET.

“The NBC Sports Group’s extended partnership with USA Pro Challenge demonstrates how much we believe in the sport,” said Jon Miller, president of programming for NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network. “The USA Pro Challenge is a major event in the U.S. and we are excited to once again air daily live coverage on NBC Sports Network in addition to the four hours on NBC.”

Telluride Ski Resort V.P. of Marketing and local organizing committee public relations director Matt Skinner commented, “This is a great addition and sure to mean expanded exposure for Telluride, both for our event and as the opening stage is constantly talked about both pre-race and through to the finish. It’s even more reach than we anticipated. This should be one of the most watched Telluride events in history.”

Iconic British cycling voices Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen will be on hand, following their regular gig covering the Tour de France, to provide commentary each day. And former road racer Bob Roll will serve as the in-race reporter.

NBC Sports Group’s broadcasts of the USA Pro Challenge will give viewers the best cycling coverage possible with features including: cameras on many of the teams’ cars; a pointer feature, which will easily identify and focus on one rider in the peloton; exclusive, in-depth profiles and features on teams and riders; and advanced on-screen statistics/biometrics to illustrate the intensity at which the riders are competing.

NBCSports.com will offer cycling fans up-to-the-minute news throughout the entire race with daily standings and results; video recaps of each stage, exclusive fan videos and interviews from some of the best riders in the world. The website also features videos from the Pro Challenge Spotlight series, which takes a look into the lives behind some of America’s top riders.
