The management of the fire was turned over to local authorities on June 4, a week after the Great Basin Incident Management Team started fighting the blaze.
The human-caused fire started around 5 p.m. on May 25, about four miles north of Paradox, on Bureau of Land Management lands. It spread quickly with high winds.
Challenging terrain made it difficult for firefighters to control the blazes from the ground.
Almost a dozen helicopters and about 550 personnel eventually brought the fire under containment, but at a $4.1 million cost, according to the management team.
On Monday, local teams worked to rehabilitate the area disturbed by firefighter operations and those remaining crews will continue to patrol and monitor the fire. There still may be visible smoke as the interior of the fire area burns, but this should pose no threat to the containment lines, according to officials.
