But not everything ended with the regular season schedules, with individual players and teams advancing to the state's competitions – and bringing home medals for their school.
• At the Class 4A State Track Meet, Montrose had two competitors place in the finals: MHS Junior Dana Shellhorn placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.13 and
freshman Abi Grace McGree placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.50.
• Several relay teams and individuals placed at the Class 4A Boys Swim and Dive State Championship on May 18-19, putting the team in sixth place overall.
The Montrose 200-yard medley relay team of Michael Barnosky, Kostya Callihan, Lars Knutson and Clay Zentmeyer placed third, with a time of 1:37.37.
Callihan placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle, with a time of 1:48.10, while Zentmeyer placed 12th, with a time of 1:51.02 and Derek Slone placed 16th, with a time of 1:51.95.
Barnosky placed second in the 200-yard IM, with a time of 1:55.41.
Knutson placed 14th in the 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 23 seconds.
Drew Herder placed seventh in the diving competition, with a score of 341.30 and Ryan Ormsbee placed 13 with a score of 327.10.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Callihan placed 11th, with a time of 55.24, while Slone placed 16th in the 100-yard freestyle, with a time of 50.26.
In the 200-yard freestyle, the relay team of Barnosky, Graehme Hilding, Knutson and Slone placed sixth, with a time of 1:30.33.
Barnosky placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke, with a time of 56.72, just short of the state record set by this year's first place winner, with a time of 56 seconds.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Callihan, Knutson, Slone and Zentmeyer placed seventh, with a time of 3:18.57.
• Lady Indians Kala Keltz, Jordan Cherry and Madison Gill went to the Girls' Golf 4A State Championship in Greeley last week, and the team placed fifth overall.
In the first round of play, Keltz scored a 74 with two birdies and an eagle on the 18-hole, par 73 course. She scored 78 the following day with one birdie to finish six over par.
Cherry had a 90 for the first round with one birdie, and scored 91 the second day to fished 35 over par.
Gill scored a 102 her first day and an 89 the second day to finish 45 over par.
