Cory Richards, the subject of the film Cold, which was on the program of Telluride's Mountainfilm Festival in 2011, was evacuated from Base Camp at Mount Everest on April 28 following the onset of symptoms of what appeared to be altitude sickness, but has since been diagnosed as a pulmonary embolism. He walked from Camp 2 to Base Camp, where he was administered blood thinners and evacuated to Nepal, where early reports are positive.

Richards was part of the National Geographic/North Face team on Mt. Everest, with Conrad Anker and Mark Jenkins.

Telluride's Hilaree O'Neill is with the expedition.
