You should have received your mail-in ballot for the Telluride Fire District Board elections in the past few weeks. Take a few minutes to vote. These elections are important to us, the Telluride EMT Association, and, therefore, to you.
The Telluride Fire District Board oversees and directs the Telluride Volunteer Fire Department, the Placerville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Telluride EMT Association with their services to Telluride, Placerville, Mountain Village, and the surrounding areas. It is important to have Board members who understand the issues at hand and who will work with the best interest of the volunteers and the community in mind.
We have known Laura Ellison since she started as a volunteer EMT for the Telluride EMT Association 15 years ago. She excelled in Paramedic School, where she graduated as the class valedictorian. Since then, her path has taken her towards motherhood and an alternative profession. Unable to work a Paramedic’s unpredictable schedule, she decided to give back to the community in a different way and volunteer her time to the Fire District Board. She was elected to the Board two years ago, and has committed many hours to meetings and conferences to understand the issues the Fire District and all its volunteers are facing today. Because of her background in business and legal work, she has helped the Board find solutions to budget and planning issues, and bring the volunteer organizations up to today’s legal standards. We are grateful that she wants to take on the responsibilities and dedicate her time to the Board for another term. We know she will bring integrity, intelligence, and experience to the Board and make decisions in the best interest of our community.
We encourage you to vote for Laura Ellison for the Fire District Board.
