Community spirit and generosity are alive and well in Southwestern Colorado. March 7 through 10, residents of Telluride, Mountain Village, Norwood, Ridgway, Ouray and the region gave generously to the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days. Together you purchased 1,250 bunches of daffodils and raised over $12,000 to support cancer patients and their families by spreading information and understanding, and offering hope of prevention through cancer research.

There’s gold in “them thar hills”… daffodils that is. The success of Daffodil Days 2012 is because of you and your neighbors, numerous volunteers who donated their time, and businesses that gave generously to underwrite our local efforts.

Many thanks to Daffodil Days organizers and volunteers: Debbie Adams, Abby Altshuler, Sue Berg, Wes Clanton, Ethel Coder, Phyllis Craig, Mona de Alva, Vicki Eidsmo, Cindy Farny, Judi Folga, Ginny Gordon, Robin Hope, Jeanne Josey, Nina Kothe, Sue Kunz, Karen Ludwig, Valerie Madonia, Lela Martin, Jamie Nixon, Heidi Pankow, Sue Reynolds, Mary Sama-Brown, MJ Schillaci, Shelley Schuler, Maggie Stevens, Laurie Steward, Deon Tempfer, Julie Thorneycroft, Lindsey Walker, Susan Williams… and all who helped by your contributions.

Thanks to businesses that generously donated time, space, enthusiasm and support: Alpine Bank Telluride, Alpine Bank Ridgway, Telluride Bottleworks, Happy Belly Deli Norwood, Mouse’s Chocolates Ouray, Willowcreek Floral Ridgway, Daily Planet, The Watch, Ouray Plain Dealer, Norwood Post, Sunshine Express, KOTO and PLUM TV.

Daffodil Days are an annual celebration of spring each year. Look for daffodils again next March, when we offer you another opportunity to support this worthwhile tradition in honor of our friends and families who fight cancer so gallantly. Together we do make a difference. Thanks to each and every one who shared the blooming of the daffodils 2012.
