OURAY- Ouray business owners, nonprofit directors, city staff and interested citizens have been meeting monthly since last November to identify the components of a prosperous Ouray community, using a curriculum developed by the American Planning Association.
The group will present a synthesis of its findings, prioritizing areas to be addressed, and developing an action plan at the monthly Business Round Table meeting at the Ouray Community Center, Wednesday, March 21, 8-9:30 a.m.
Hosted by the City of Ouray and the Ouray Chamber Resort Association, the group has brainstormed and explored strategies to support existing business, encourage expansion and attract new complementary businesses. Discussion has also focused on possible supports or barriers imposed by local rules and regulations.
“Public input into this process is important,” said the City of Ouray’s Resource Manager Rick Noll, who has facilitated the meetings. “It doesn’t matter if you were there during the earlier sessions. This is an opportunity to provide direction to the economic development activities of the City of Ouray and Ouray Chamber Resort Association.”
