The search began with focus groups to gain input on what the board, district search committee and community would like to see in a new superintendent. Three final candidates were chosen from a pool of 13 applicants. McHale, currently superintendent of schools for the Dolores RE-4A School District in Dolores, has worked in education for 21 years, as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and superintendent.
School Board President Kjersten Davis stated, "The School Board was privileged to have three highly qualified finalists to consider for the position. We feel that Mark MacHale will bring a unique set of qualities and characteristics to our district.
We look forward to continued growth and improvement under his leadership.”
The nationwide search was conducted by the Colorado Association of School Board Superintendent Search team.
MacHale assumes the position on July 1, 2011.
