TELLURIDE – Laughter kicks into high gear this weekend with the 12th annual Telluride Comedy Fest, presented by Jeb Berrier and the Sheridan Arts Foundation, live on the Sheridan Opera House stage.

Featuring some of the best and funniest performers working today, each night features a unique show with an emphasis on a different comedic form: stand-up, sketch and improv.
This year’s talented lineup includes: Scot Armstrong (writer, Old School, Starsky & Hutch, Road Trip, The Hangover Part II); Jon Daly (Parks and Recreation, Bride Wars, NYC Sketch Group Mr. A$$); Jessica Chaffin (90210, The Mighty B!, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, Rona & Beverly); Jamie Denbo (Children’s Hospital, Terriers, Conan, Weeds, Curb Your Enthusiasm); Ed Helms (The Office, The Hangover, The Hangover Part II); Brian Huskey (Free Radio, Best Week Ever, Superbad, Step Brothers, Parks and Recreation); Nick Kroll (Little Fockers, Dinner For Schmucks, Get Him to the Greek, I Love You Man, Date Night); Jason Mantzoukas (Baby Mama, Splinterheads, Parks and Recreation, The League); Seth Morris (Curb Your Enthusiasm, I Love You Man, Step Brothers, No Strings Attached, Funny or Die) and Tig Notaro (Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman Program, Comedy Central’s Benson Interruption, Held Up).

As always, Thursday is Locals' Night where the comedians pull out the stops for Telluride’s sometimes rowdy crowd. It’s an evening infused with plenty of inside humor and local references, culminating in some world class improvisation.
Friday’s Sketch Comedy and Improv Night features a “pass the mic,” where comedians literally pass the microphone from person to person telling stories, building on one another to create original stand-up comedy right there on the spot. The second half of the night, all performers jump on the stage for an exhilarating improve set. Because all Comedy Fest’s performers got their start as through improve, they look forward to using the Opera House stage as a place to reunite and revisit their comedic roots. Check out just how far they can take one tiny suggestion using lots of imagination.

Notaro and Kroll are featured in Saturday’s Stand Up Comedy performance, hosted by Telluride Comedy Fest veteran and comic genius Seth Morris.

“Tig Notaro is so funny,” says actor/writer/comedian Sarah Silverman. “She is so comfortable on stage and takes her time like a master. She has the timing of Bob Newhart and the body of a tiny lumberjack. It’s so fun to watch her. She’s funny without even saying a word. She just has that thing and it’s hilarious.”

For his part, Kroll has been named one of Variety's "10 Comics to Watch" and was featured in Comedy Central's "Hot List of '09." He leads the pack of a new generation of comedy minds as a versatile actor, writer and producer. Currently, Kroll stars on FX's comedy series, The League, a part-improv, part-scripted comedy from Jackie and Jeff Schaffer (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm) that is set to return in late summer 2011.
Finally on Sunday, Denbo and Chaffin bring their new sketch comedy show Rona and Beverly to the SOH stage.

Eight VIP tables are available for all performances for $500. The tables offer prime cabaret seating on the main floor for four individuals, as well as a private meet-and-greet reception with the featured comedians following Sunday night’s performance. Thursday’s Local’s Night tickets are $25; reserved theater seating for Fri.-Sun. are $30 and $35.
