DUST RUN? – After yet another wind-driven dust storm slammed the southwestern San Juans Tuesday night, a layer of dust completely covered the moguls beneath the Telluride-Mountain Village Gondola on Kids Hill Wednesday morning. Despite the dumping of much-needed moisture in recent weeks, the dust layers adversely affect the snowpack’s longevity, speeding up runoff. In honor of the occasion, the City of Montrose has lined up a whole week’s worth of events celebrating its commitment to a cleaner, greener, healthier community and planet.
The bill simplifies permitting for small hydro development on Bureau of Reclamation facilities by eliminating duplicative environmental analysis.
Council decided to err on the side of simplicity and allow enforcement of the city’s noise ordinance to continue to be complaint-driven and handled on a case-by-case basis.
